Teaching
I am a busy professional solo opera and concert singer
over a broad repertoire, but I am having increasing success
in my singing teaching.
I spent 5 years at the renowned Royal Northern College of
Music, Manchester, studying Singing with Patrick McGuigan,
gaining both my Graduate and Performance Diplomas with Distinction.
I won all the song prizes there and even when I immediately
started my singing career (1985), I also started teaching
singing on a one-to-one basis whilst continuing to study
myself with Margaret Hyde, Nicholas Powell, Paul Hamburger and latterly
Noelle Barker and Michelle Wegwart.
I teach singing both
privately and for many years at the Birmingham Conservatoire
, where I am now one of the senior voice tutors. I have also taught at the University of Warwick and have also, recently, begun teaching at Rugby School.
Additionally, I act as an External Examiner at my alma mater,
the Royal Northern College of Music and am also one of the
main adjudicators at the Welsh National Eisteddfod.
I am a member of the British Voice Association.
I am DBS checked.
